'Mucio Escevola ante Porsena'.
Gaius Mucius Scaevola is a Roman hero, a patrician youth. Lived in the Roman Empire.
According to one legend, he once tried to kill the king of the Etruscan city of Clusius, who laid siege to Rome.
Having made his way into the tent, Mucius mistakenly killed the clerk, who was dressed in purple (more beautiful and more expensive than the king). They seized him and, as proof to the enemies that he was not afraid of them, he put his right hand into the fire of the altar and held it until it was charred. The king took pity on him and took him away from the fire. Mucius, in gratitude for such mercy, told him that 300 like him (Romans) had plotted against him. The king got scared and stopped the war.
