Types and costumes. - Chukchi man and woman.

 

The Chukchi are a small indigenous people of the extreme northeast of Asia, living on a vast territory from the Bering Sea to the Indigirka River and from the Arctic Ocean to the Anadyr and Anyuya rivers. They are divided into two groups. Ankalyn, which means "seaside people" live on the coast of the Bering Sea and the Arctic Ocean, and Chauchu, which means "rich in deer" and is applied to the inhabitants of the tundra.
