"The Fourth Earl of Clarendon"

George William Frederick Villiers (1800-1870), the 4th Earl of Clarendon was an English diplomat and statesman from the Villiers family. He began his career in the dilpomatic service, serving as ambassador in Madrid. In 1846, he went on to become president of the Board of Trade and between 1847 and 1852 served as Irish viceroy. He became secretary of state for foreign affairs in 1853.
