French engraving — Jacquet, Jules

 

Jules Jacquet (1841—1913) - French artist and engraver with a chisel. Aschile's brother Jacquet; born in Paris on December 2, 1841. Pupil of Alexander Lemlin and Henrikel-Dupont. Has gained fame thanks to numerous, exquisitely executed works, for example: "Gloria victis", from the sculptural group of Mercier; "Youth", from the statue of Chapu; "Madame Recamier", from a portrait by Louis David; Heavenly Love and Earthly Love, by Titian and others. He engraved a number of prints attached to A. Dumont's work on Greek ceramics.
