"Revel  (Tallinn)".

Revel (Tallinn) is the capital of the Republic of Estonia.
Founded by the Danes in 1219. Although the first mentions of the city date back to the beginning of the 12th century. In 1346, Denmark sold the northern part of modern Estonia that belonged to it to the Livonian (Teutonic) Order. Revel actually became an independent city and was part of the Hanseatic League. As a result of the Livonian War, these lands became Swedish possession. Since 1710, Tallinn passed to the Russian Empire, becoming part of it as a result of the Russian-Swedish war. In 1919, after the formation of the Republic of Estonia, Revel officially received the modern Estonian name Tallinn.
