French engraving — Courtry, Charles Jean Louis

Charles Jean Louis Courtry (printmaker; French; Male; 1846 - 1897).

Biography
Engraver and etcher; born in Paris, worked for an architect at the age of 14, pupil of Léon Gaucherel and the etcher Léopold Flameng. Engraved nearly 500 reproductive plates; worked in Paris at the French Etching Club in 1875, and in London where he exhibited at the RA, also etched plates for 'The Magazine of Art'. Legion of Honour in 1881, died in Paris.
