German engraving — Geissler, Christian Gottfried Heinrich Geissler

 

Christian Gottfried Heinrich Geissler (June 18, 1770, Leipzig) - German draftsman, engraver on copper, illustrator, who worked in Russia in 1790-1798. The author of engravings of the well-known album "Image of the uniforms of the Russian Imperial Army, consisting of 88 faces illuminated" (St. Petersburg, 1793). In 1793-1794 he participated in the expedition of PS Pallas to the south of Russia as an artist and engraver. I published several ethnographic albums from Russian life separately.
