English engraving — Kernot, James Harfield

James Harfield Kernot (c.1802–1858) — A British line engraver specializing in landscapes and topographical views. Kernot was active in Bloomsbury, London, from approximately 1828 to 1858. He engraved works after prominent artists such as J.M.W. Turner, Clarkson Stanfield, and Thomas Allom, contributing to prestigious publications including Stanfield's "Coast Scenery" (1836) and Brockedon's "Illustrations of the Passes of the Alps" (1828–1829). His work is held in collections including the Royal Academy of Arts and the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.
