'Rivages du Kur et de Araxes'.
The banks of the Kura and Araks. Antique copper engraving.
Kura-Araks lowland.
The lowland is located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea and is a flat steppe space, which, covering the coast of the Caspian Sea to the shores of the Kyzyl-Agach Gulf, stretches from here to the west outside the province. By the flow of the Kura and Araks it is divided into three parts: the northern (along the left bank of the Kura) is called the Shirvan steppe, the southern (along the right bank of the Araks and Kura) is called the Mugan steppe, the space between the Kura and Araks is the Karabagh (as well as Mil or Shiriykum) steppe. The steppes of the Caspian lowland are completely treeless. Only along the banks of the Kura and Araks are woody vegetation and extensive thickets of reeds found.
