The Prut campaign of Peter I took place in July 1711, on the territory of modern Moldova, as a result of the war between Russia and Turkey. The results of the war were negative for Peter I; he had to give up the Azov fortress in Turkey, which had previously been conquered by Russian troops and turned into an important naval base.
