Military — Military uniform — engravings

Depictions of military uniforms hold particular interest for historians and collectors. In engravings from the 18th and 19th centuries, one can trace how the appearance of soldiers from different armies changed: from the lavish Baroque-era coats to the practical uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars. Artists reproduced with documentary precision the cut of uniforms, regimental colors, details of equipment, and of course, weaponry—from knightly swords to flintlock rifles.
