One of many engravings depicting the Exchange building in St. Petersburg.
The Exchange building was built in 1805 - 1810 by the architect Thomas de Thomon, in the style of late classicism by the French architect Jean-François Thomas de Thomon. It is located on the “arrow” of Vasilyevsky Island, in the delta of the Neva River.

Rostral columns, architectural structures erected in St. Petersburg on the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island in the delta of the Neva River. In the 19th century they served as lanterns for the capital's port. The two red brick columns were built between 1805 and 1810 according to the design of the French architect Thomas de Thomon, who decorated them with ship rostras.
