Kars is a city in eastern Turkey, the administrative center of Kars province. From 929 to 961 - the capital of the Armenian kingdom of Bagratuni, from 963 to 1065 - the capital of the Armenian Kars kingdom. Located on the Kars Plateau of the Armenian Highlands, on the Kars River. According to the Treaty of Kars in 1921, the city became part of Turkey.
